During a product test, Caterpillar founder Pete Holt invited a photographer to take a picture of his machine. The photographer exclaimed, "It looks just like a caterpillar!" Intrigued by the vivid metaphor, Holt decided to give his product the name. So, in 1910, Holt went to the government and officially registered the "Caterpillar" trademark.


From then on, the name "Caterpillar" began to appear on Holt's products. As the company continued to grow, "Caterpillar" became a household name and was eventually adopted as the company's official name, symbolizing perseverance and continuous progress.
